Lang Toi is a Vietnamese bamboo circus show produced by Lune Production and now performing in Hanoi. Also known as, The Little Village Show, the show is a delicate balance between old and new, with village life in Northern Vietnam shown through the lens of a fresh bamboo circus approach. Ancestral bamboo props, stunning circus acts and acrobatics, rhythmic dances, and enchanting folk music from over 20 different traditional musical instruments are used to re-create farming activities, construction activities, traditional games, and rural lifestyles.

The performers use their bodies and the bamboo poles to create amazing feats of strength and agility. The show is also interactive, with audience members being invited to participate in some of the stunts.

Speaking to CNN, the director of Lan Toi, Tuan Le, explains: “With Lang Toi and with our concept, we want people to understand the value of what we have in our tradition,” and he continues, “I use acrobats and their elements and techniques to write the story that doesn’t need to be translated.”
