EU Aid Volunteers

EU Aid Volunteers is a European citizens’ initiative working to reinforce the European Union’s response to emergencies and conflicts. The aim is to create a network of volunteers, who pledge their time and skills to help people affected by conflict and natural disasters outside their home country – particularly whenever the EU or its member states decide to provide humanitarian aid.

The European Commission’s department for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO) and the EU Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisual and Culture collaborated to launch the EU Aid Volunteers project, which is aimed at encouraging collaboration among active European citizens working with communities in countries experiencing humanitarian crises or post-crises.

It brought together organizations such as CARE International, Oxfam, Médecins Sans Frontières, and the International Committee of the Red Cross who all shared a common goal: to make it easier for European citizens to get involved in humanitarian aid.
